Biggest female superstar of Pakistan, Mahira Khan has been listed by BBC News as one of the world's top 100 most influential women of 2020. The BBC has announced its list of 100 inspiring and influential women from across the world for 2020, and Pakistani actor Mahira Khan is a part of it.

The reason for her induction into the list, as announced by BBC, is for the fact that she speaks up about the causes and issues that matter to encourage change. BBC said in a statement that "Mahira Khan is no ordinary actress - she is outspoken against sexual violence, refuses to endorse skin-lightening creams and supports the fight against racism. She wants to tackle social issues in her native Pakistan by changing the narrative in films and on TV". 

The BBC publication also added that Raees actress "Mahira Khan is no ordinary actress – she is outspoken against sexual violence, refuses to endorse skin-lightening creams and supports the fight against racism. She wants to tackle social issues in her native Pakistan by changing the narrative in films and on TV. Mahira is a national goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, raising awareness of the plight of Afghan refugees in Pakistan. She’s been a firm favourite with audiences ever since starting out as an MTV video jockey (VJ) in 2006. Mahira is also a devoted mother to her 11-year-old son"

Apart from Mahira Khan, Sania Nishtar has also been featured in the list. She is a leader in global health and sustainable development and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection.
