‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan’, ‘Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhe’ singer Shahnaz Begum passed away in Dhaka(Bangladesh) on Sunday after suffering a heart attack at the age of 67.

Shahnaz Begum was born on 2 January 1952 in Dhaka to M Fazlul Haq and Asiya Haq. She is the recipient of the Ekushey Padak in 1992 and Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film Chhutir Phande (1990).

Begum sang in Bangladeshi and Pakistani films. Her main area of singing entails modern songs (Adhunik Gaan) and patriotic songs. She emerged as a singer in Dhaka in the mid-1960s and 1970s.
