Will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's newborn daughter Lilibet Diana receive the royal title of Princess?

After their son Archie Harrison, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have welcomed their second child, a girl named after the Queen and Prince Harry's late mother Princess Diana, to their California family.

The newborn baby, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, was born without a royal title.

When Charles becomes king, they will both be entitled to Princess and Prince titles, as well as the usage of Her/His Royal Highness, since they will have ascended through the line of succession to become the children of a monarch's son.

According to the Letters Patent 1917, an ancient decree made by Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather, George V, Only the children and great-grandchildren of the monarch’s straight male line shall get formal royal titles.

However, Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped down from royal obligations, it’s unclear if they want to bestow such titles on their children.
